As part of PONKS’ commitment to bringing poetry into public space, the duo founded POETRY FROM THE FUTURE, a monthly platform for contemporary poetry curated by Sam Alekksandra.

Launched in October 2023, the event is hosted at Malta’s first dedicated poetry bar in Valletta. It offers a curated yet informal space where both emerging and established poets share new work. Each edition revolves around a specific theme, inviting writers to respond and present fresh texts.

In over two years, POETRY FROM THE FUTURE has become a regular fixture in Valletta’s cultural calendar, attracting hundreds of attendees and featuring dozens of local and international poets. The platform collaborated with contemporary artist Paul Scerri in 2024 for the exhibition. The Sound of You Dreaming’ at Valletta Contemporary, and was also presented internationally at the 2024 Tunis Biennale, JAOU and the 2nd edition of the Malta Biennale.

To date, poetry has been shared in at least 14 languages, welcoming writers of all ages.
